The work develops from the spatial structures of the old and new buildings of Egbert Primary School in Trier. A single hue, modulated through subtle tonal variations, runs through the building as a continuous trace, linking different areas into a spatial whole.
Lines and planes mark transitions, frame edges, shift lines of sight and set accents. Gate-like situations, concentrations and repetitions structure routes and create orientation — allowing the building to be experienced as a continuous spatial narrative.
In the stair area, the colour trace accompanies the path upwards and gives it rhythm. The corridor in the historic building is structured by the colour trace and organised into a spatial sequence. The painted surface creates a gateway and makes the transition spatially perceptible. The coloured framing turns the passage into a threshold in its own right. The colour trace structures the dining hall and opens up new lines of sight. The colour trace also moves around the columns, drawing the space together. The wall elevation shows the spatial sequence of colour interventions in the entrance area and historic corridor. The wall elevation shows the entrance area and historic corridor from the opposite viewing direction.
